Hakkında

Within the West Midlands town of Walsall in England, Jalalia Jami Masjid and Islamic Education Centre serves the local Muslim community with daily prayers, children's Qur'anic classes, and weekend adult study programmes. Walsall is an old market town whose charter dates back to the thirteenth century and which later became famous during the Industrial Revolution for its leather goods, including saddles and harnesses exported across the British Empire. Its Muslim community grew steadily during the second half of the twentieth century, primarily through families arriving from Sylhet in Bangladesh, Kashmir, and Gujarat. Bangladeshi Muslims of Walsall bring with them a tradition of building mosques that are also centres of learning, following the example of Imam Abdul Jalil of Sylhet and other teachers whose teaching circles shaped rural religious life in the Sylhet region. In both Walsall and Sylhet, mothers, fathers, and grandparents take care that every child learns to recite the Qur'an correctly, memorises the short surahs, and understands the stories of the prophets and the Companions (may God be pleased with them) whose lives show the practical meaning of faith. The building itself reflects the English terraced streetscape of Walsall. Red Midlands brickwork, a green painted dome and minaret added above the original structure, carved wooden doors, and a small forecourt welcome worshippers entering from the pavement. Inside, a fully carpeted prayer hall serves men at ground floor level while a separate upstairs section hosts women, and the adjoining classrooms fill with children each weekday evening for supplementary Islamic education after regular school hours end. Daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at Jalalia Jami Masjid in Walsall, its address, a map, and helpful visitor notes are offered on this page for local residents, students at Walsall College, and travellers making their way through the West Midlands. Walsall is known for the New Art Gallery beside the canal basin, the Leather Museum, and the beautiful Walsall Arboretum illuminations held every autumn. After Jumu'ah, worshippers often enjoy plates of biryani, samosas, and sweet jalebi prepared by volunteers, continuing the long tradition in which food, faith, and friendship are woven together through the warmth of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) practice of honouring one's neighbour.
