Hakkında

Resting within the historic southern Lebanese city of Sidon in the Liban Sud governorate, Masjid Umm al Mu'minin Aishah (may God be pleased with her) honours one of the most beloved women in Islamic history, the wife of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, whose scholarly legacy shaped the transmission of the prophetic tradition for all subsequent generations. Sidon itself is among the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world, with Phoenician roots reaching back more than four thousand years, and its medieval old town still carries the imprint of Mamluk, Ottoman, and early Islamic architectural layers.
A'ishah bint Abi Bakr (may God be pleased with her) narrated more than two thousand hadith, studied closely with the Prophet over nine years of marriage, and after his passing taught generations of companions and successors from her home in Madinah. She was praised by the Prophet himself for her extraordinary intelligence, and later scholars, including some of the most influential jurists of the early period, travelled to seek knowledge from her. Dedicating a mosque to Umm al Mu'minin A'ishah in a Lebanese city that has long valued female religious learning places a gentle reminder at the heart of daily worship that the Qur'anic community was always built through the contributions of both sisters and brothers in the path of God.
Architecturally the masjid reflects the honey stone Levantine style common across southern Lebanon. A cut stone facade carries tall arched windows, a single minaret rises above the rooftop, and a modest dome sits above the prayer hall. Inside, patterned carpets cover the floor, carved wooden screens define the women's section, and calligraphic panels decorate the mihrab. Friday sermons address themes of family life, kindness to parents, and the dignity of honest work, while during Ramadan the community gathers for collective iftars of kibbeh, tabbouleh, and sweet knafeh Nabulsiyah. Eid mornings fill the courtyard with families bearing sweets and small gifts. Accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at this Sidon mosque appear on this page for every resident of Liban Sud and visitor to the ancient Phoenician port.
