Hakkında
Endowed in loving memory of the mother of Abdulaziz and Ibrahim al Shaya by her devoted sons, this Riyadh masjid continues the cherished Najdi tradition whereby Saudi merchant families establish houses of prayer as an ongoing charity for their beloved parents. Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, flourished from a small oasis settlement in the Wadi Hanifa into a cosmopolitan metropolis of glass towers, modern museums, and immense palm groves, yet the city still preserves the dignified customs of Najdi family life that have bound its residents together across many generations of remarkable growth.
The al Shaya family occupies a respected place among the merchant houses of the peninsula, known for charitable endowments, educational scholarships, and civic engagement that reaches from the Gulf to the wider Arab world. Raising a masjid in the name of a departed matriarch echoes the teaching of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, who guided the believers that the deeds of a person are cut off at death except for three, including an ongoing charity such as a house of prayer whose adhans, rakats, and recitations continue to accumulate rewards for the endower long after the worldly life has ended.
Mothers occupy a place of extraordinary reverence in Islamic teaching, and the Messenger repeated three times that a mother deserves the finest treatment before adding a single mention of the father. Every man entering the masjid through a door bearing such a dedication carries within himself a reminder of that precious hadith, and the sons of al Shaya have ensured that their mother's memory is woven into the fabric of Najdi worship.
Architecturally the building reflects modern Riyadh taste. Warm cream stone cladding, a slender minaret tipped with a brass crescent, a gentle central dome above the mihrab, pointed arched windows shaded by geometric lattice, and a paved forecourt with palm trees welcome worshippers. Inside, patterned carpets stretch across the hall, chandeliers hang from the painted dome, a carved wooden minbar flanks the mihrab, and a separate women's entrance leads to an upper gallery with its own wudu facilities.
Accurate daily timings for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the masjid appear on this page alongside its Riyadh address, a clear map pin, and thoughtful notes for visitors approaching from the diplomatic quarter, King Fahd Road, or the towering Kingdom Centre. Ramadan nights bring long iftar tables of fresh dates, laban, kabsa, and cardamom scented qahwa shared with every neighbour. Travellers passing through the Najdi capital are welcomed warmly, invited to offer two rakats of tahiyyat al masjid, and affectionately encouraged to whisper a sincere du'a asking the Almighty to raise the station of the beloved mother whose sons continue her legacy through every act of prayer within her gentle stone walls.
