Hakkında
Endowed in memory of Dr Ibrahim bin Uwayd al Utaybi, this Riyadh masjid serves residents of the Saudi capital with the warmth that Najdi neighbourhoods have long extended to travellers and students. Riyadh, whose name derives from the Arabic rawdah meaning garden, grew from a cluster of oasis settlements into the seat of the Al Saud family during the early twentieth century, when King Abdulaziz ibn Saud unified the kingdom after his famous recapture of the Masmak fortress in 1902. The city thereafter blossomed into the political and spiritual capital of Saudi Arabia, rising beside the Wadi Hanifa with its date palms, heritage mudbrick quarters at Diriyah, and vast modern boulevards stretching from al Olaya to the Qasr al Hukm district.
The al Utaybah tribe is among the great confederations of central Arabia, historically pasturing camels and sheep across the Najd plateau and the western approaches to the Hijaz. Dedicating a masjid to a scholar from the tribe continues a Najdi custom of preserving the memory of learned men through charitable works whose benefit continues long after their passing, following the guidance of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, who taught that a righteous son, ongoing charity, and beneficial knowledge endure for a person even beyond the grave.
Architecturally the building reflects the restrained Najdi style that shapes modern Riyadh mosques. Cream stone walls, a single slender minaret, a modest dome above the mihrab, geometric latticework shading the high windows, and wide forecourts for shoe racks shelter worshippers from the dry summer heat. Inside, patterned carpets stretch the length of the hall, chandeliers hang above rows of qibla lines, and a separate women's entrance leads to a quiet upper gallery with its own wudu facilities.
Current daily timings for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the masjid appear on this page alongside its Riyadh address, a clear map pin, and hospitable tips for visitors arriving from King Khalid International Airport, the National Museum, or the towering Kingdom Centre. Ramadan brings nightly tarawih congregations that fill the courtyard with fragrant coffee, Saudi dates, and laban poured for every neighbour. Travellers pausing between Najdi heritage sites and the modern malls are welcomed warmly, invited to offer a quiet supplication for the late doctor whose generous endowment still gathers believers around the remembrance of God within these gentle cream coloured walls.
