Hakkında

Rising gracefully in a modern neighbourhood of the Saudi capital, Masjid al Amirah Shahinaz bint Faysal ibn Fahd is a contemporary Riyadh mosque endowed by a member of the Saudi royal household, continuing a tradition of princely charity that has shaped the spiritual landscape of the Kingdom for generations. The capital of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has grown from a walled town of mud brick houses into a metropolis of skyscrapers, freeways, and world class universities, yet its community life still revolves around the neighbourhood masjid where families gather five times a day to remember their Lord. Riyadh today holds thousands of mosques, and each one, from the grandest to the simplest, carries the weight of the same quiet invitation to prayer.
The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that whoever builds a mosque seeking the pleasure of God, God will build for him a house in Paradise. This teaching has inspired Muslim benefactors across every age, and in modern Saudi Arabia women of the royal household have often chosen to devote part of their means to religious endowment, following the noble example of Umm al Mu'minin Khadijah (may God be pleased with her), who spent her wealth in the cause of the early Muslim community. The dedication of this mosque in the name of a princess ties the community's daily worship to that long tradition of pious giving.
Najdi influenced architecture shapes the design, yet on a larger scale than village mosques. A central dome sheathed in pale stone rises above a spacious carpeted hall, a tall slender minaret carries the adhan far across surrounding streets, and carefully worked plaster panels decorate the mihrab and qiblah wall. A dedicated women's entrance leads to a comfortable upper gallery, with its own wudu facilities and quiet study space. Date palms line the courtyard, and the water fountains offer cool drink throughout the long summer. Ramadan brings distinguished reciters of the Qur'an, and Eid prayers fill the building to capacity. Accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha appear on this page for every Riyadh resident and every guest of the Kingdom wishing to join this congregation.
