Hakkında
Situated among the quiet residential lanes of Ar Riyad, Jami Tarfah bint Abdullah bin Akrash (may God have mercy on her) carries the name of a pious Saudi benefactress who endowed this house of prayer for the sake of God, continuing a gentle tradition of women across the Arabian Peninsula who gave land, wells, and mosques so that future generations might worship in comfort. Riyadh, the beating capital of the Kingdom, grew from a mud walled oasis into a global metropolis during the twentieth century, yet across its neighbourhoods such family endowed mosques preserve a living link to the older character of Najd. The old quarter of Dirah, the palm groves of Wadi Hanifa, and the towering mudbrick walls of the Masmak Fortress all whisper the memory of that earlier Riyadh, and mosques such as this one carry its spirit into contemporary streets.
Najdi architectural tradition influences the design, with clean white walls, a modest square minaret crowned by small arched windows, simple geometric plasterwork around the mihrab, and high ceilings that temper the desert heat. The prayer hall accommodates several hundred worshippers, with a separate section arranged thoughtfully for women. Date palms planted in the courtyard offer shade through the long summers of central Arabia, and the adhan, delivered in the rich Najdi cadence familiar to every resident of the capital, summons neighbours five times each day to stand shoulder to shoulder before God. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that the most beloved of deeds before God is the regular prayer, and this mosque gives its community a dignified place in which to fulfil that command.
Ramadan brings a deeper rhythm to the masjid. Extra lighting is fitted, suhur announcements crackle warmly through the speakers, and volunteers distribute dates, laban, and Zamzam water for the breaking of the fast. Eid prayers overflow into the adjacent street, and families linger afterwards to embrace and exchange greetings. Visitors to Riyadh staying in nearby hotels, students at the great universities of the capital, and travellers passing through on business will find a welcoming congregation here. On this page, accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha are updated for the masjid and offered freely to every worshipper who wishes to pray alongside the devoted people of Riyadh.
