Hakkında

Honouring the late Sheikh Salih al Ali al Sani, may God have mercy on him, this Riyadh congregational mosque carries forward the memory of a respected figure whose family name and generosity have left their mark on the modern Saudi capital. Riyadh itself grew from a walled oasis town along the Wadi Hanifah into the sprawling administrative heart of the Kingdom, and each of its neighbourhoods clusters around a house of worship that anchors the daily rhythms of prayer, study, and neighbourly visiting. The architectural idiom is Najdi at its core, with lime washed walls, triangular crenellations along parapets, square minarets capped by simple crescents, and carved wooden doors leading into cool carpeted halls. More recent finishes add marble courtyards, modern lighting, and climate control that temper the summer heat. Worshippers arrive for the five daily prayers from surrounding residential blocks, parking along quiet streets shaded by date palms and flame trees. The Jumu'ah congregation fills the hall well before the khatib climbs the minbar, and sermons address contemporary matters of faith, family responsibility, and civic honour. Ramadan transforms the grounds entirely, with long tables of iftar laid out for labourers, drivers, and travellers, followed by taraweeh recitations that carry deep into the night and qiyam sessions during the final ten nights. The imam aims to complete the holy Qur'an across the blessed month, choosing long portions from both the Makki and Madani revelations. Eid mornings bring colour and laughter as families gather for the takbir, children wearing new clothes and clutching small gifts. Qur'anic memorisation circles meet in side rooms after Asr, guided by teachers drilling students in tajwid and overseeing the steady commitment of whole portions to the heart. Women worship in a dedicated upper section served by a separate entrance, with clear sightlines toward the mihrab. Nearby landmarks include the historic Masmak fortress, the old Murabba Palace, and the modern Kingdom Centre tower that now defines the Riyadh skyline in the distance above surrounding neighbourhoods and well tended urban gardens. Travellers passing through Riyadh on business or pilgrimage often pause here for a quiet rak'ah before continuing their journeys, leaving with a renewed sense of the Kingdom's unbroken devotion to prayer.
