Hakkında

Within the Malir Cantonment of the vast port city of Karachi, the Jamia Masjid Hussaini and the adjoining Imambargah Darbar e Hussaini serve a devoted community of worshippers who honour the memory of Imam Husayn ibn Ali, may God be pleased with him, the beloved grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Karachi, the capital of Sindh Province and the economic engine of Pakistan, grew from a modest fishing settlement into one of the most populous metropolises of South Asia during the twentieth century. Its neighbourhoods host communities drawn from every province, and Malir itself is home to Baloch, Sindhi, Urdu speaking, and Punjabi families living side by side.

The name Hussaini, derived from the title of Imam Husayn, and the word Darbar, meaning court or assembly, together evoke the spiritual gatherings held in remembrance of the events of Karbala in the year 680. Through majalis held during the month of Muharram, through nightly recitations of marsiya poetry, and through the distribution of niyaz food offerings, the congregation keeps alive the memory of sacrifice in the cause of justice. South Asian Muslim communities have maintained this tradition for centuries, blending Arabic, Persian, and Urdu languages in their devotional expressions.

The building combines the functions of a jamia masjid, where congregational prayers and Friday sermons are performed, with those of an imambargah, where majalis and commemorative gatherings take place. Green and white tiles cover the walls, arched doorways with calligraphy in Nastaliq script frame the entrances, and a central chandelier illuminates the floor during evening events. The ablution area is generous, and separate sections accommodate men, women, and children.

Accurate daily prayer times for Jamia Masjid Hussaini and the Imambargah Darbar e Hussaini in Malir Cantonment appear on this page, with the address, a location map, and notes that assist Karachi residents, visitors from Lahore and Quetta, relatives arriving from the Gulf countries, and researchers of South Asian Muslim traditions in attending Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha here and joining the annual gatherings held within these walls with dignity and confidence during every season of the year.
