Hakkında

Settled in the hill town of Dighinala in the Khagrachhari district of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Dighinala Upazila Sadar Central Jame Mosque serves a devout Muslim community living alongside the indigenous Chakma, Tripura, and Marma peoples who give the hill tracts their distinctive cultural character. Chittagong itself has been one of the great Muslim port cities of South Asia for more than a thousand years, welcoming traders, scholars, and saints from the Arab world, Persia, and Central Asia who crossed the Bay of Bengal in search of markets and students. The Chittagong Hill Tracts were incorporated into British India in the nineteenth century and passed to East Pakistan and then Bangladesh after 1947 and 1971.
Bangladeshi Islamic heritage draws upon the work of the wandering teachers who crossed the Bay of Bengal from Arabia and Yemen across centuries, spreading the Qur'anic message through poetry, trade, and marriage into the local river lands. The Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, taught that whoever builds a mosque for the sake of God will have a house built for him in Paradise, and Bangladeshi villagers have taken this teaching to heart in the many jame mosques that crown every upazila and union council across the country. The central jame mosque of an upazila typically serves as the principal Friday prayer venue for the entire subdistrict, drawing worshippers from surrounding villages.
Architecturally the masjid follows the Bangladeshi provincial style common across the hill tracts. A whitewashed facade frames tall arched windows, corner minarets rise above the rooftop, and central domes crown the main prayer hall. Inside, patterned carpets cover the floor, ceiling fans turn steadily through the humid monsoons, and calligraphic panels decorate the mihrab. Friday sermons are delivered in Bangla, with Arabic citations drawn directly from the Qur'an and prophetic hadith, while during Ramadan the mosque offers collective iftars of chola, muri, piyaju, and sweet jilapi. Eid mornings fill the courtyard and surrounding field with families embracing in new clothes. Accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at this Dighinala mosque appear on this page for every resident and visitor of the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
