Muhammad ibn Sulayman al Jazuli Mosque in Inezgane honours one of the great figures of Moroccan spiritual history, author of the Dala'il al Khayrat, a collection of prayers upon the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, that has been recited in homes, mosques, and gatherings across the Muslim world for more than five centuries. Inezgane itself lies on the busy southern road that connects Agadir to the Sous valley, a market town whose grand souks, especially on Tuesdays, draw traders from the Atlas foothills and the Atlantic coast alike. The surrounding Souss Massa region is famed for its argan groves, its Amazigh heritage, and for the quiet piety of its rural mosques where simple adobe walls and palm beam ceilings have sheltered worshippers for centuries. The Jazuli Mosque reflects that heritage with a generous rectangular prayer hall, a green tiled roof in the Moroccan manner, and a square minaret whose tiled upper band catches the light of the setting Atlantic sun. Inside, the mihrab is carved in plaster with delicate floral patterns and framed by verses from Surah Ya Sin painted in dark green calligraphy. The minbar is wooden, shaped in the Marrakchi style with interlaced geometric panels. Daily prayers draw a steady stream of shopkeepers and agricultural workers from the surrounding quarters of Inezgane. Jumu'ah fills the hall and the courtyard beyond, with the sermon delivered in Arabic and occasional passages in Tashelhit for the older Amazigh worshippers. During Ramadan, tarawih is especially beloved, and the mosque hosts a nightly recitation of passages from the Dala'il al Khayrat in memory of its revered namesake. Eid prayer spreads across the adjoining open ground, where families greet one another with dates and warm mint tea freshly poured from silver pots. Visitors are welcome outside prayer times; modest dress and quiet conduct are expected. Nearby attractions include the Souk El Had of Agadir, the beaches of Taghazout famed for their Atlantic surf, the fishing harbour of Anza where sardines are landed each morning, and the Souss Massa National Park famous for bald ibis and flamingos along the river estuary.
