Hakkında
Raised on the Absheron Peninsula at Kurdakhani, specifically in the quarter known as Second Sovkhoz within the Digah administrative settlement, Imam Huseyn Mascidi honours the noble grandson of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family. Azerbaijan has been a land of Islamic faith since the seventh century when the Arab armies under the command of Salman al Farsi, may God be pleased with him, and his companions reached the Caspian shores. Over the following centuries Azerbaijani scholars contributed richly to the wider Muslim civilisation, and the country's poets such as Nizami Ganjavi and Khaqani Shirvani are counted among the jewels of Persian and Turkic literature.
Imam Huseyn, son of Ali ibn Abi Talib and Fatima al Zahra, may God be pleased with them, stood at Karbala on the tenth of Muharram in the year sixty one after the hijra against the army of Yazid, refusing to give his hand to an unjust authority. His martyrdom, alongside his brothers, sons, nephews, and faithful companions, continues to inspire believers across the world. Azerbaijan, which lay for many centuries within the cultural orbit of the Safavid empire, honours him deeply, and commemorations during the sacred month of Muharram draw large gatherings of worshippers to every mosque bearing his blessed name.
The Second Sovkhoz quarter of Kurdakhani recalls the Soviet era agricultural reorganisation of the Absheron peninsula, when large state farms were established across the dry vineyards and pomegranate groves. After the restoration of Azerbaijani independence in 1991, the religious life of the people resurged, and neighbourhood mosques such as this one were rebuilt or refurbished by the determined efforts of local villagers whose grandparents had preserved the adhan through decades of Soviet silence.
Architecturally, the building reflects modern Azerbaijani taste. Warm sandstone walls typical of Absheron quarries, a turquoise dome rising above the prayer hall, a slender minaret carrying calligraphy in the old Nasta'liq script, and a carpeted interior with a calligraphic mihrab welcome worshippers five times a day. The present page lists accurate prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at Imam Huseyn Mascidi, along with the Digah address within the Absheron District and travel notes for visitors arriving from central Baku by the highway through Mardakan, from the famous flame towers, or from the Caspian beaches of Bilgah. Any traveller passing through the blessed land of fire and wind is warmly invited to step inside, pray with the devoted Azerbaijani congregation, and ask the Most Merciful to send abundant peace upon the noble grandson whose courage at Karbala illuminates every believing heart forever.
