Hakkında

Among the industrial towns of northern Italy, Comunità Islamica di Cinisello Balsamo brings together Muslim families of Moroccan, Egyptian, Tunisian, Senegalese, Bangladeshi, Albanian, and Italian background into a single neighbourhood prayer space. Cinisello Balsamo itself lies in the metropolitan belt just north of Milan, in the region of Lombardy. The town grew rapidly during the post war Italian economic boom, when migrants from Sicily, Calabria, and Puglia arrived to work in the factories and automobile plants, and from the 1980s onward Muslim migrants from across the Mediterranean and beyond joined that same wave of settlement. Today the community prays, studies, and celebrates Eid together in the heart of Europe.
The community is associated with one of the beautiful names of God, al Salam, the Source of Peace, and with the greeting that the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him and his family, commanded his companions (may God be pleased with them) to spread generously. Assalamu alaykum, the Prophet taught, is the greeting of the people of Paradise, and whoever feeds others and speaks kindly draws near to God. The community ethos at Cinisello Balsamo reflects that teaching through regular interfaith dinners with Catholic parishes, food assistance for newly arrived refugees, and Italian language classes for women seeking better employment.
The prayer hall itself has been adapted from a former commercial building, as is typical for Muslim communities in Italian cities. Carpets cover the main floor, a small library holds Qur'ans in Arabic with Italian translation, and a discreet women's section is arranged upstairs. On Fridays, worshippers spill into the courtyard, where the imam delivers the khutbah in Arabic and then summarises the main points in fluent Italian for the younger generation raised in Lombardy. Ramadan brings long evenings of collective iftar with tagines, pasta, harira, and baklava, reflecting the multiple heritages of the congregation. On this page you will find accurate daily prayer times for Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha at the centre, published clearly so that every Muslim resident, student, or traveller passing through the Milan metropolitan area can plan worship with ease and join the community in fellowship.
